Starting the Final Task

Hello, my name is Cayetano Castro. I am in the 11th grade at Fort Lauderdale High School. I will be attempting this final task by myself. I believe that me taking full responsibility over my project will help me learn to take the task I have at hand and complete it to its full content. I hate the waiting from other people to complete certain aspects of certain projects, so I hope that completing them on my end will mean that 100% of the work is finished. I also want to use my own equipment, as it will assist in my knowledge of using all of my materials at once. I will attempt to make a great judgement on my final pitch, as my environment will determine the final outcome.

Introduction to the Music Video Project

Image
For the Music Video project, I want to try and do it solo. Due to this pandemic, I don't have a lot of assets to go to for filming, so I'll try to manage with the filming. But, I want to manage the work by myself and not let the work go to waste. Anywhom, the song I will be using for the project is Pop Smoke's (a.k.a. Bashar Jackson) "Tsunami" featuring Davido. The song by the late Pop Smoke (who early this year passed away from a home robbery) captures the essence of love and being with someone new. Plus, I really wanted to pay respects to Pop Smoke, because he made a new wave to the hip hop/ R&B scene, along with giving back to his community back in New York. Therefore, I decided to do Tsunami, which I thought truly captured the best of what he had to offer.

Commercial Blog

This is my blog for my product. I focused on making sure that I got solid angles, along with grabbing other features of the product. I did encounter issues with filming and editing, so I had to re-film with my Canon EOS Rebel T3i. It wasn't the greatest when it came to quality, but it still shot 720p at 60fps.I was finally able to process and edit the filming, and that was a true relief. I will certainly give my phone another try for my next project. In the project, I made sure to involve multiple transitions in the text and video, and placed music in the video too.

Editing Blog

For the editing of my commercial, I ended up using Windows Movie Maker as my editing software. I felt comfortable using this as my software to edit, other than Adobe's Premiere Pro software, as I am currently unfamiliar with the interface and mechanics of the program. With Movie Maker, I understood my surroundings of the program, as everything was more accessible than Premiere Pro. I implemented features of the product like the weight, the versatility, the ease-of-use, and more. I was unsure when adding a price, but ended up doing it anyways, since the product at hand was an individual product and not a fleet of products under that brand. I used this built-in feature in Movie Maker called video stabilization which corrected most of the instability in movement and made the video an equal shot. It is an excellent feature in Movie Maker, and is very useful when you don't have the proper filming accessories. I also added music to the commercial, more specifically house music, t

Filming Blog

Image
Today (November 1st), I did my filming for my commercial. I did today because the weather wasn't exactly the greatest on the 31st. With the filming, I tried to obtain good shots, but I think my rear camera on my phone wasn't in AutoFocus. But, I still worked through and got my shots. I made sure to get various angles, especially with the program and the device. I'm kind of worried about the editing process, but I should be able to edit it. I would have hoped for better lighting, but I have weak lights in the room I was working in. Also, the product was a little dirty even after polishing the surface, but it is a dust magnet.  The shots were filmed on my LG V60, and I guess the lighting was the reason my video came out blurry. The next time I film, I may do it with my other camera however, it only goes up to 720p on 60 frames per second. My phone is able to go up to 7680x4320 (which is near 8K footage), but I could only render out 1080p. I will try to obtain an LED ring lig

Storyboard Blog (A Sudden Change in Topic)

Image
For my storyboard, I had to improvise and change the topic on what I would be filming.  Therefore, I changed my topic to Serato, a DJ platform for artists and deejays, containing my very own DDJ-SB3 system.     For the first shot, I want to do a somewhat "introduction" of the product. Like the name of it, the various amounts of ports, etc. This will be more of a basic start towards the rest of the video.     The second shot will have the product under usage, which will include mixing, setting tempo, and displaying the various features.     The third shot will contain its compatible programs and devices, as well as the features within those said programs.     The fourth shot will have more shots of mixing and extra tips/tricks towards the product.     The fifth shot will have the price of the product and locations to purchase it, and the last shot will disclose the company and their slogan.     I am aiming for each slide to be about 5 seconds long.

Planning Blog: Chevrolet Commercial

With the research being done on other Chevrolet commercials, the planning phase can commence. Props: -Any vehicle apart of the Chevrolet brand, including the Silverado -(optional) Towing/Bed Load (wood, trailer, etc.) The Schedule (if weather/timing is good): Planning: 10/24-10/25 Storyboard: 10/26 Filming: 10/26-10/30 Editing: 10/27-10/30 Location: I'm hoping that Florida weather doesn't curse me, but I'm planning on this location near the Fort Lauderdale Airport that has a patch of dirt and an empty side road. This will be the best for filming longer shots and more off-road based scenes. Backup: If I can't for any reason I can't get a good shot or I get rained out, I might either have to change topic or do the filming at my friends house.
